How to watermark a PDF

  2. Type the words, or add a picture, and set the angle, colour and size. The preview shows the file itself, not a mock-up.

About this tool

Can I watermark several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and the same mark goes on all of them; past one file the download is a zip. Every file is stamped here in the browser, so a batch of thirty costs nothing but your own machine.
Can I use my logo instead of words?
Yes. Switch to Picture and choose a PNG or JPEG. A PNG with a transparent background looks best, and the opacity slider works on it the same way it does on text.
Can the watermark go behind the text rather than over it?
Yes — that is the Behind the content option. One thing to know: a page that paints its own solid background will cover a mark printed behind it, because that is exactly what a background does.
Can I mark only the first page?
Yes. The Pages setting offers the first page only, everything but the first, or just the odd or even ones. Pages the mark skips are not touched at all.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The whole thing happens in this browser tab and your files never leave your device.
