Compare PDF

Drop in the original PDF and the revised one, and every page lines up side by side. Every change — a word swapped, a line reformatted, a shape or picture added, moved or recoloured, a link, comment or form field changed, a page resized, a title or bookmark edited — is marked on the page or listed on the right, grouped by page, so you can see what changed without reading the whole document again.

What it does

Compare PDF, at a glance.

  • Line two PDFs up side by side, page by page
  • Mark every change to text, formatting, shapes, pictures, links, comments and form fields on the page
  • List every change on the right, with a downloadable report

This tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. The file never leaves your machine, using it needs no sign-up, downloading needs only a free account, and nothing you download carries a watermark.

Step by step

How to compare two PDFs

  1. Drop in the original PDF, then the revised one — or choose each from your machine.
  2. Scroll through the pages. Every change is marked red on the original and green on the revised page, and listed on the right.
  3. Search the change list for one change in particular, then download the report.

Questions

Compare PDF: questions and answers

Everything in the file. Text added, removed, edited, moved or rotated, and words whose font, size or colour changed; shapes and pictures added, removed, recoloured, resized, swapped or moved — even to another page; links, comments, highlights and form fields and their values; pages added, removed, resized or rotated; and the document’s title, author and other properties, bookmarks and attached files. The one thing not listed as moved is text or a shape that only shifted because something before it on the page grew or shrank.
